- 01
Open a Reddit thread.
Any subreddit, any post.
- 02
Press play.
We parse the post and comments, assign a unique voice to each author, and start reading.
- 03
Listen your way.
Queue more threads, switch voices, or drop into sleep mode with ambient audio.
Built for long sessions
Every detail designed to keep you listening.
-
A voice per commenter
We hash each username and assign a consistent voice from your device's library. u/foo always sounds like u/foo, every thread.
-
Gender-aware matching
Voices are grouped so usernames tend toward matching voices — subtle, but it makes long threads far easier to follow.
-
Queue & reorder
Stack up threads, drag to reorder, auto-advance to the next one. Like a podcast app, built for Reddit.
-
Sleep mode
Ten hand-picked ambient tracks with a fade-to-silence timer. Voices taper, music dims, screen goes dark.
-
Zero network calls
Synthesis happens on-device via the Web Speech API. No audio leaves your browser. No account. No data collected.
-
One click, any thread
Hit the extension icon on any Reddit thread and narration starts instantly. No setup, no copy-pasting, no extra tabs.
Drift off to a thread.
Queue a long AskReddit, pick an ambient track, and set a fade timer. Voices taper, music dims, the screen goes dark. It's the quietest way to end a scroll.

Questions
- Is ThreadCast affiliated with Reddit?
- No. ThreadCast is an independent reader built by Pixel Labs. "Reddit" is a registered trademark of Reddit, Inc.
- Do I need a Reddit account?
- No. The extension reads what's already on the page — it never logs in or accesses your account.
- Where does the audio come from?
- Your browser's built-in speech engine (Web Speech API). Nothing is sent to our servers.
- Why does each commenter sound different?
- We hash the username and map it to a voice, so the same user always gets the same voice across threads.
- Does it work on mobile?
- The Android app is in internal testing; iOS is on the way. The Chrome extension runs on desktop.
- How much does it cost?
- The core reader is free. A Pro tier with extra voices and features is planned — see Pricing.
