ThreadCast pricing FAQ

Is ThreadCast free?

Yes. The Android app's free tier is a complete way to listen to Reddit aloud: System voices, author-aware narration, an unlimited queue with full comment threads, sleep mode with all 10 ambient sounds plus your own track, an offline queue (saved posts play without signal), and lock-screen and Bluetooth controls. On-device AI neural voices on mobile are part of Premium. The Chrome extension is also fully free, with four voice engines (System, AI Neural CPU, AI Neural GPU Lite, AI Neural GPU) and every feature you see today.

Is ThreadCast private?

Yes. Every voice is synthesized on your device, so the threads you listen to and the audio ThreadCast generates never touch a server. There is no account to create and no tracking. Optional cloud sync (an upcoming Premium feature) only ever covers your queue and preferences, never the voices or the audio.

Does ThreadCast work with a screen reader?

Yes. The Android app has a full TalkBack accessibility pass: every control is labelled, reachable, and announced, so you can navigate the feed, queue, and player entirely by screen reader. Accessibility is part of the free tier, not a paid add-on.

Can I export a Reddit thread to MP3?

Yes. On Android Premium (v1.2) you can save any thread as a standard MP3 with chapter markers and cover art, then play it in any podcast app. MP3 export is coming to the Chrome extension too.

Does ThreadCast work offline?

Yes. On Android the free tier caches your queued posts and their comments, so they play with no signal, and exported MP3s play fully offline. On-device AI voices also synthesize without a connection once a voice is installed. Offline downloads that pre-render any thread to local audio are an upcoming Premium feature (v1.4.0).

What does Premium add?

On mobile, v1.2.0 ships three on-device AI neural voice engines (Lite, Plus, and Studio) and MP3 export with an in-app library player. Later releases add subreddit auto-curation (v1.3.0), cloud sync of your queue and preferences across devices (v1.4.0), offline downloads that pre-render any thread to local audio (v1.4.0), per-subreddit rules, and premium ambient packs. On the Chrome extension (upcoming): a universal web reader, a PDF reader, and pasted-text reading.

Why are AI voices Premium on mobile but free on the extension?

Neural inference is far more demanding on a phone than on a desktop: battery, thermal load, and memory pressure are real costs to your device, especially on long listening sessions. Premium voices on mobile is also a familiar paid category (Speechify, NaturalReader, Pocket Premium). One Premium subscription covers both surfaces.

I had AI Plus free in the v1.1.0 Android beta. What changes with Premium?

In the v1.1.0 closed beta the AI Plus voice engine shipped free so testers could put it through real-world listening. With ThreadCast Premium live in v1.2.0, all three on-device AI voice engines (Lite, Plus, and Studio) are now behind a Premium license, one product across both platforms. The free tier on Android stays a complete listening experience: System voices, author-aware narration, an unlimited queue with comments, sleep mode with all 10 ambient sounds plus your own track, an offline queue, and MP3 import.

When does Premium launch?

It's live now. Buy Premium on this page (Monthly, Yearly, or a one-time Lifetime), then tap the activation link in your confirmation email to unlock it in the Android app (v1.2). iOS follows later.

Does Lifetime include future features?

Yes. A Lifetime purchase covers every Premium feature we ship in the future, on extension, Android, and iOS, for as long as ThreadCast exists.

What is the $69 launch offer?

The first 100 Lifetime purchases at Premium launch get $69 instead of the regular $99, which we call the Founder Edition. The discount is applied automatically at checkout; once the 100th sale completes, Lifetime returns to $99 for everyone else. Monthly and yearly Premium plans are not affected by the promo.

What does Founder Edition mean?

The first 100 Lifetime buyers get a permanent Founder badge in the app, visible in Settings → Premium on every device you activate, in place of the standard Premium badge. Same Lifetime access as the regular tier (every Premium feature, now and in the future); the Founder badge is our way of thanking the people who backed ThreadCast on launch day. The mark stays for the lifetime of the product.

What payment methods do you accept?

Card, PayPal, and Apple Pay or Google Pay via Lemon Squeezy. All major currencies are supported.

What is your refund policy?

14-day no-questions-asked refund on all paid plans. See our Refund Policy for details.
